Book Review #4

Sup, guys. It's me. I haven't done any book review ever since May due to my commitments to stuffs. Plus, I wasn't being healthy. So, I feel good to be back and review books like I've always wanted to do.

It's been a while since I've read a nice piece of literature. Last time, I only remember reading John Grisham as an interesting work. The thing is that English literature are too expensive for me. It's a friction that won't allow me to read tons of books. Moving on, I wanna start of by saying that I really like this book. I've grown mature enough ever since I start blogging from 2012, when I was a preteen to 2018 and I'm now a young adult. I'm not sure if people even noticed it from the pattern of my writing. Nevertheless, there are still a little bit of immature within me and I'm still learning. In fact, I have a lot more to go. Now, I've been really into politics this year especially since PRU 14 and the change in government and even freedom in media. Not to mention, I'm a huge fan of memes, the Nazi versus Red Army are one of my favourite moments in history. Due to that, I have become more interested into politics and how things work between the aristocrats. 

This book is happens around World War 1 and Russian Revolution. It follows around 5 families. Welsh family, Russian, Germans, Britain and Americans. Each one of them took part in  the war. What I really like about this book is that it has multiple amount of likeable and hateable characters. And most of them are done right. When it comes to likeable characters.... I wanna give the credit to the Williams family and Walter Von Ulrich. I really like both of them. I like Gregory to. And the Dewar family. This book reminds me a lot to shounen anime where most main characters are underrated and keep being looked down upon, when actually they are smart and really likeable. 

I also wanna give props to the author for making me even more patriotic than I already am. As you know, British is our coloniser and we're supposed to hate them. Surprise! They really are hateable! Even though what they're doing is right and all, I still don't like the old fashion treatment they're doing to women. Not to mention how the earl keep sleeping with multiple amount of women, and when they're pregnant, he called the baby bastards. It made me so angry. The coloniser are also very prideful about their race, they think once they success, (due to Islam of course! And they said our religion is in the way, seriously, screw that) they have the rights to rule other third-world country and have the rights to look down upon the dark-skinned race. What a shame. It's a good thing that now all of that have gone. Still, that doesn't negate the fact that politicians are toxic and most of them are trash. 

Last but not least, I wanna appreciate how Ken himself wrote the love making scene delicately and passionately. It's been a while since I've read a novels with good love making scene in it. Now, don't get me wrong. When I mean, love making, it's not the 50 shades of grey level. It's modest, passionate and filled with love. The thing is, you rarely ever see men write a nice love making scene. It's usually women. And surprisingly, Ken Follet did even better than most Romance Malay novel did. I think John Grisham also write a realistic adult love relationship as well. And I kinda want to apply that on my novels as well. 

I wanna rate this book 4.8/5. Keep in mind that this is part 1 out of 2

I bet you're thinking, where's Islamic books? Aha, of course I would have an Islamic books to be reviewed. I read this book a long time ago and I wonder if I'm still capable of reviewing it. As said by the title, this books is about Iblis. But it's also have information about Syaitan. This book has 9 chapters, that being Asal usul Iblis, Pintu Masuk Iblis, Penampilan Iblis, Tipu daya Iblis, Senjata Iblis, Jelmaan Iblis, Bala tentera Iblis and Melumpuhkan serangan Iblis. I would say, every one of them is informative. It's just that, you can't just rely on books just to be good. You need someone to point out your misbehavior and tells you that what you're doing is wrong. Someone who knows you really well. Nevertheless, that doesn't negate the fact that this book is not useless. I learn a lot about what is wrong through this book for example, thinking about Allah deeply  can lead to Iblis consuming us. Well, that's only one.
Aside from that, this book is very risky because it talks about Iblis and it comes with guidance on how to read this book. I think the publishers are very considerate. Due to that, I wanna say that only 15 above are allowed to read this book. The rest, unless you are mentally prepared and matured enough you can't read this book.

Cerpen Adaptasi Pentomen 'SEPUTIH KASIH IBU'

Syazri mendengus kasar. Mak tak siap lagi ke? "Mak!" Jeritnya kasar. Dia melangkah ke dapur. Mak tak ada. Dia melangkah ke bilik. Ternyata Mak sedang melaksanakan solat. Dia mendengus kasar lagi.

Mak yang baru bersolat dan berwitir melangkah keluar dari bilik. Mak melangkah ke dapur. Dia ingin menyiapkan makan tengah hari untuk Syazri. Syazri yang baru ternampak kelibat Mak turut melangkah ke dapur. "Mak ni lambat betul! Orang lapar ni, Mak!" Mak tahulah, balas Mak dalam hati. Mak tak menjawab Bimbang menuang minyak ke dalam api.

"Ada Mak pun tak guna! Makanan mana?!" Jerkah Syazri. Terkebelakang Mak seketika. Riak wajah Mak berubah. Mata Mak kian mengecil. Namun Mak tak menjawab.

Syazri menunggang motosikal ke rumah kawannya. Di sana, mereka melepak. Syazri melepak dengan kawannya sambil mereka berbincang tentang jenama kereta. Ternyata Syazri suka berangan. Dia berangan ingin memiliki kereta berjenama. Dia berangan bersama kawan-kawannya. 

Mak di rumah berdoa," ya Allah, berilah kesedaran kepada anakku Syazri untuk dia berubah menjadi lebih baik." Panjang betul doa Mak. Semuanya doa untuk Syazri. Mak berdoa di tikar sejadah. Tikar sejadah Mak lusuh. Mak berdoa selepas solat. Begitulah kelaziman Mak. 

Syazri marah. Begitu marah. Mak memang melampau!Sampai hati Mak kemaskan bilik Syazri. Habis hilang segala koleksi gambar kereta berjenamanya. "Mak!" Dia meluru ke arah Mak. Langsung dia tak peduli Mak yang sedang berteleku di atas sejadah. Pantas dia menolak Mak. Orang tua itu jatuh tergolek. Mak beristighfar panjang. "Mak memang melampau! Mak kemas bilik Syazri!Habis hilang gambar kereta Syazri!" Jerkahnya terus tanpa menghiraukan Mak yang terkial-kial bangun. "Syazri dah serik dengan Mak. Syazri nak keluar." Dingin suaranya.

Mak tidak berkutik. Mak duduk berteleku di atas sejadah usangnya. Agak lama juga Mak berkeadaan begitu. 

Dua jam kemudian, bunyi ketukan pintu rumah bertalu-talu. Mak tersentak. Pantas Mak bangun lalu membuka pintu.

Kelihatan orang kampung datang membawa tubuh Syazri yang berlumuran darah. Mak tak terkejut. Hati Mak sarat berdoa, agar Syazri sedar akan kesalahannya. Agar Syazri berubah.
