Book Review #1

I don't think I need to elaborate everything, it's pretty obvious what I'm going to write. I'm not sure if you noticed it or not, I <3 reading. It's fun, interesting and fascinating. Reading has always been my hobby and passion and I don't really have a chance to go in depth about it becoz I have no one to relate to. I saw a book review and I was like; why not make my own? So, here I am with my first book review ever!

Book #1

Pustaka Ibnu Kathir Sdn. Bhd.

First of all, to make it clear, it's an Islamic book. Like it's legit a self-help book if you wanna categorized it with other religious books such as Bible, or Jordan Peterson's book. So, it has no plot, no story line, character development and everything related to literature. At all. Even Arabic literature. In case you didn't know, Al-Qurtubi was a mufassir, (org yg mahir dlm bidang tafsir) muhaddith (Pakar hadith (lebih kurang))and faqih scholar from Cordoba. He's a sunni and he's a mazhab Maliki's follower (?) (Pengikut mazhab Maliki) The original title of the book was Al-Esna fi Sherh al-asma al-Husna. I wasn't really familiar with Imam Al-Qurtubi's books in the first place. I know Imam Al-Qurtubi. I've heard his name before. It's just that in philosophy books, Imam Qurtubi wasn't being mentioned frequently compared to Imam Al-Ghazali. I know Syeikh Sya'rawi is an Egyptian ulama' and I've heard his name, it's just that you rarely ever seen ppl promoting their books.  And also, this type of book is hardly available in Malaysia. TBH, I've heard the title of the book from Hlovate. She described it as an amazing, unexpected helpful book, so when I laid my eyes on it, I knew I have to spend my money on it.
As you can see on the title itself, I don't think I have to elaborate it more. Basically, this book explain to you, going in depth about Asmaul Husna. TBH, I never expected this book to be so full and packed because it's about Asmaul Husna; like everyone memorized it. So reading this book really blows my mind and open my eyes to view and appreciate Allah's name in a much better way. It's a Tauhid book, so it helps you to strengthen your iman, trusting Allah even more, and realize that we're just a mere humans. At least for me. But, let me warn you; this book was originally in Arabic and being translated to Malay/Indonesia so reading it once is not enough for you to understand it. There are also a lot of references for example by Al-Baihaqi, Tauhid Asma' wa Sifat.<- This book was being frequently mentioned.
Again, since it's a book of course it's gonna give you more knowledge. There are a lot of ways to beribadah mentioned that are really helpful. For example how do you beribadat with Al-Hakim, Al-Halim etc. Totally recommend this book. It's a good start if you wanna change and get closer to Allah. And it's a heavy book so Adults are really recommended, even teenagers as well. You know, in case you wanna grow up so fast and you want to sound smarter than you really are. Read this book!

Would rate it 4/5 stars because it's a complicated book.

Book #2

Translated by: Ust Sharhan Syafie
Price: RM 29.00
Pustaka Al-Ehsan Sdn. Bhd.

I always wanted to read Ihya' Ulumuddin, so when I saw it; I knew I had to get my hands on this. As you can see, I read a lot of philosophy; especially about knowledge and the philosophers (cewah) mentioned a lot of Imam Al-Ghazali in their books. If you're not familiar with Imam Al-Ghazali, basically he's one of the greatest and famous Imam out there. He was an ilmuan; like he <3 looking and searching for knowledge. His father was a sufi, kind of like Bapak Tasawuf. He faced some crisis during his last years, and decided to follow his father's footsteps; which means becoming a sufi. So in this book, you can see a lot of resemblance on how much he appreciated golongan sufi. Like the ppl who throw away their everything just to beribadah for Allah SWT. He mentioned that a lot but the best part about this is that; he's a smart person. He's very intelligent and open-minded, so he conveys those messages in an extremely penuh berhikmah.
Ihya' Ulumuddin is a book that contains 40 chapters and is consider a special book. Imam Nawawi said himself; "Jika semua kitab Islam hilang, naudzubillah, dan yang tersisa hanya kitab Ihya' maka ia mencukupi semua kitab yang hilang itu." I think this is some sort of basics book, like if you wanna improve your Islam and Iman, or even get started, this book is for you. Like I said, this book has 40 chapters, all with everything on it. Starting from basics praying (solat) to legit death (kematian).
I really2 <3 this book and totally recommend it. Why? No. 1, it is written in fact by Imam Al-Ghazali himself. There are a lot of Ringkasan Ihya' Ulumuddin out there, but this one is special becoz he did wrote it. He said he ringkaskan it becoz the original Ihya' Ulumuddin was so heavy. It is, in fact. I saw it. So, bringing it around for travelling and reading at the same time is gonna be very difficult.
No. 2, reading this book really make me feels like I'm closing in to Imam Al-Ghazali. It feels like, he is talking to you, advising you in person and asking you to think about some stuff in this book which is really cool. It changes me. It affected me. And I hope it affected you as well. I feel like I can understand now why a lot of ppl <3 Imam Al-Ghazali so much and I do fall in <3 with him too. No. 3, it's cheaper (well, the one that I owned of coz).
As a conclusion, totally recommend it. For everyone that was smart enough to think. You know, everyone that are so lazy to read tons of Islamic books. You can read this book and your Islam basics will be very strong.

Would rate this book 5/5!
